For A Peaceful Transition
For all the thought that goes into preparing for birth, postpartum care is often the afterthought, but it shouldn't be. Warm herbal-infused baths have been a midwife's favorite to provide comfort after birth. The warmth from the water and soothing properties of the herbs help to calm emotions, hydrate skin, promote feelings of love and safety, and aid in recovery. For a bonding moment, you can have a helper bring your baby into the tub to join you for a few minutes, then take baby out and continue to soak as long as you like. Containing herbs traditionally used for perineal discomfort, The First Bath has no artificial preservatives, dyes, or fragrances. Although it’s most commonly used in the tub, The First Bath can also be added to a sitz bath bowl or used to make herbal infused padsicles for all day cooling comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Add The First Bath to a large pot of hot water and steep for at least 10 minutes to make a strong herbal infusion. From there, add it to a sitz bath bowl for a targeted soak, pour it into a peri bottle for gentle rinsing throughout the day, or soak a washcloth to use as a warm compress. You can also make padsicles: let the infusion cool, soak a pad in it, fold it, and freeze. Padsicles are one of the most popular ways mamas use postpartum herbal blends, especially in those first tender days.
One bag can be used for two to four uses. For the strongest infusion, squeeze the bag several times while the tub fills. Store the muslin bag in an airtight container in the refrigerator between uses.
The herbs in The First Bath are gentle enough for brief newborn bathing, and a shared soak is a beautiful bonding ritual many midwives encourage. Have someone help you get in the tub first and then hand you your baby. Keep your newborn's time in the water short, around 5 to 10 minutes, and gently pat the umbilical cord area dry when your helper takes baby out. You can continue soaking as long as you'd like after that.
The First Bath is formulated for postpartum use and is not intended for use during pregnancy. It is meant for external use and can be used while breastfeeding. If you have any questions about your specific situation, check with your care provider.
The First Bath pairs beautifully with Postnatal Releaf for well-rounded postpartum support. Many mamas also use Sprigs Hemma Sitz as a daily sitz bath for targeted perineal comfort throughout the postpartum period, especially helpful for postpartum hemmies.
